 SOIL AND WATER ASSESMENT TOOL

SWAT is the acronym for Soil and Water Assessment tool a river basin, or watershed scale, model developed by Dr. Jeff Arnold for the USDA Agriculture Research Service (ARS). Swat model is a continuation of thirty years of non- point source modelling. It was created in the early 1990’s and has undergone continued review and expansion of capabilities.

It was mainly developed to predict the impact of land management practices on water, sediment and agriculture chemical yields in large complex watersheds with varying soils, land use and management conditions over long periods of time. SWAT allows a number of physical processes to be simulated in a watershed. It uses specific information about weather soil properties, topography, vegetation and land management practices occurring in the watershed to describe the relationship between input and output variables. Physical processes associated with water movement, sediment movement, crop growth, nutrient cycling etc. are directly modelled by SWAT using this input data. The conference will give exposure to budding researchers and scientists to use SAWT model for watershed study.

The organizers invite research papers for this session from all interested academicians and researchers. Participants intending to present paper(s) are requested to send the abstracts (indicating Technical Session name “SWAT based watershed study” in the top”) through online submission (not exceeding 300 words) up to 31st October, 2017.
